They Fought, We Remember

When the soldiers trampled forth,

To fight the battle, win the war,

This not their first, nor third or fourth,

But many times have they seen the gore.

So as they fought the bloody battle,

The bombs overhead made the house’s windows rattle,

They saw their foe fall to the ground,

And many a friend lose this round.

Another war was not expected!

A second one alike the first!

Freedom to all had been rejected,

As the Nazis tried to quench their bloody thirst.

The good, they fought till victory,

Though some held their base oversea,

So honor them we always shall,

And of their sacrifice forever tell.
